YOUTH JAZZ COMMISSIONS
In addition to performing modern jazz masterworks by composers like Charlie Parker, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Bobby Watson and Gil Evans among many others, YOUTH JAZZ Fellows perform and record music written specifically for them each season.
- YOUTH JAZZ Artistic Director will select and approach composer-in-residence candidates based upon the programming goals of the organization.
- Composers are welcome to apply for a YOUTH JAZZ residency by sending a letter of request for consideration, a short bio, a website link and a sample of work.
- Composers are compensated professionals.

YOUTH JAZZ Artistic Director will select and approach music industry experts as mentor candidates to consult during the season based upon the programming goals of the organization.
- Entrepreneurs are welcome to apply for a YOUTH JAZZ Expert consultancy by sending a letter of inquiry for consideration, a short bio, a website link and a sample of work.
- Consultants serving as YOUTH JAZZ Experts are compensated professionals.

YOUTH JAZZ Resident Composers are consultant guest artists and do not work with KCAYJ Fellows on a regular weekly basis each season. However, a particular composer residency may involve the composer giving a workshop to KCAYJ Fellows by live video stream or by coming to KC.
